Founded in the 1970s by João Batista da Silva Pereira in Lagos, in the beginning it was dedicated exclusively to the repair and maintenance of professional fishing vessels, and despite already using the name Sopromar at the time, it was only in 1993 that the company formally registered this name.
Over the years that followed its initial appearance, the Sopromar Group went through several stages of growth, investing heavily in the development of its facilities and in the training of its teams.
Currently, and with its presence in 3 different locations – Lagos, Portimão and Algés – it offers solutions for all the needs of the fishing and recreational nautical area, always with the promise of a professional result, distinguishable from the competition by quality.
In the Algarve, in addition to two complete nautical shops with products from the best brands, it also offers maintenance and repair services, both at the physical shipyard in Lagos and elsewhere, through the transfer of its specialized technicians to your vessel.

With gantry cranes with capacities for 35, 50 and 300 tons, a 25-ton crane and a lifting platform up to 30 meters high, we are equipped to move any vessel, from a small motor boat to a sailboat.
With the acquisition of the CrocLift machine in 2018, our shipyard in Lagos now has a catamaran handling service, allowing them to go up and down in our shipyard, always with attention to their safety and in accordance with the specificities of this type of vessel.
In our Nautical Center in Lagos you will be able to find all the necessary services for the maintenance and conservation of your boat, always being able to count on the attention of a professional and specialized team.
With the aim of offering quality services and being a permanent support in the nautical environment, the Sopromar Group strengthens its position in the market by investing in qualified, specialized labor with several years of experience in the most varied techniques.
At the Lagos Shipyard and in Algés, it has gantries with capacities from 35 to 300 tons, cranes with a capacity of 25 tons and also lifting platforms up to 30 meters high, and in addition to these, it also has a CrocLift at the Lagos shipyard, developed solely to safely and carefully remove/place catamarans in the water, both for operators and vessels.
Currently, the Sopromar Group has the capacity to park around 350 dry boats in Lagos and 200 in Algés, complementing this service with modern and equipped facilities for customers to use during their stay.
In 2022, the new Nautical Center of Algés officially opened, reinforcing its existing presence in this area, and expanding its range of services to customers with a larger Nautical Store with a greater variety of products, as well as greater capacity for dry parking.
We are specialists in operating and maneuvering boats, lifting to replace zinc, washing, placing on trailers or simply parking.
Our washing section was one of the first in the region and it is with great pride that we keep the Nautical Center permanently clean and careful, preserving nature and the environment.
The parking area has capacity for more than 300 boats, with access points to electricity, water and WIFI.
For long-term parking we provide a proper coverage to protect your vessel.
